Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia has praised one club teammate as a “legend” on social media today.
Romeo Lavia, 20, has been pretty much a spectator on a matchday for the majority of a frustrating debut season in Chelsea colours. In fact, the Blues midfielder has only made one appearance across all competitions this campaign, which was a cameo display off the bench in the league versus Crystal Palace back in December.
He’s been prevented from building relationships on the pitch with his peers, but let’s hope the former Southampton youngster can have much better luck with fitness next season.
Romeo Lavia hails Chelsea player
Lavia did give a special mention this week to Blues teammate Thiago Silva.
It’s been confirmed the 39-year-old centre-back is leaving Stamford Bridge this summer after four memorable years in west London.
Silva has announced via Instagram he’s rejoining former club Fluminense in Brazil, which earned reactions from Neymar and Marcelo.
Lavia uploaded on his Instagram story a picture of him alongside Silva at Chelsea’s End of Season Awards at Stamford Bridge last night.
The caption read: “Legend of this game.”
Thiago Silva a Chelsea defensive great
In just four years as a Chelsea player, Silva’s created a brilliant legacy for himself at the club.
The veteran defender has been amazing for the Blues despite moving to the Premier League in his mid-thirties, with the Champions League trophy the crowning moment for him at the club.
Described as “amazing” by Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino (Ben Jacobs’ X account), Silva will leave behind a major hole in the playing squad.
On top of his experience to help a young group, the centre-back has proven this campaign he still defends bravely and intelligently. It’s massive shoes for his teammates to try fill moving forward.
